Amber Maple Syrup (1 litre / 3 lbs)

This rich-flavoured Ontario Grade A Amber Maple Syrup was produced late season in Southern Bruce County using buckets and horse drawn sleighs. Therefore no fossil fuels were used in the process.  Our supplier uses a maple syrup production that is in compliance with the Certified Organic Standards. Their maple bush is located on a sealed-bottom, moisture-retaining soil which makes for a rich, unique flavour.

Cooking with Maple Syrup:
Maple syrup can be used as a healthier alternative to sugar. The natural sweetener adds depth and complexity to a wide range of meat, seafood and vegetable dishes, and can be used as an ingredient in glazes, Rubs, and BBQ sauces. 

Baking with Maple Syrup:
To substitute maple syrup for granulated sweeteners such as white sugar in baked goods, use 2/3 cup of maple syrup for every 1 cup of sugar, reduce the quantity of liquid ingredients in the recipe (water, milk, juice) by 1/4 cup, and lower the baking temperature by 25° F. 

Maple Syrup vs. Other Liquid Sweeteners:
Maple syrup also serves as a one-to-one substitution for other liquid sweeteners, such as honey, molasses and corn syrup. Add subtle sweetness and a hint of maple to fresh fruit, cereal, ice cream, tea, hot chocolate, coffee, eggnog and smoothies. You can even use it to jazz up a cocktail instead of using simple syrup.
